Sybarite Sloane models "Nursery"

"Nursery" is a Superdoll Salon made chiffon gown with a limited edition of 16. It was sold on the superdoll homepage in May in celebration of London'd Chelsea flower show. It came with a pair of shoes and a miniature letter of invitation which are not shown in the pictures (the beret hat was included). Thes shoes are from an older Salon outfit (Sweet) sicnce the shoes made for generation three Sybarites will not fit Sloane.

Superdoll "BRLN" luggage set for Sybarites

This is exactly the detailing and fabulous quality of production that many manufacturers say cannot be produced any more without sky high retail prices :) These were not cheap but I am very happy with the value and I am sure to give them a very special place in my collection. I also did not have to sell any organs to get these.
The green "BRLN" set has been sold out for a while- there was a black version called PRS, too, which is also sold out by now. However, there might be more color variations coming (on the back cover of the latest Haute doll, there was an advertisement featuring this luggage in several colors like white, black, green, cold and orange). However, there is no way of truly knowing ;)

Sybarite Fidele wearing "Supernova" from Superdoll

Hi everyone!

As some of you might know I am an astrophysicist by education so when Superdoll released an outfit called Supernova, I knew that it basically had my name written all over it :) I am very happy with this outfit, it has a very cool and elaborate design and I think it will look awesome on a lot of different dolls. It also comes with some nice accessories (shoes, handbag, purse) which is always a big plus in my book and I am willing to shell out more money for more accessories, personally.

I love it on Fidele even if she cannot wear the crown that comes with the outfit due to her big hair.

The absolutely only thing that bothers me a bit is that there is a seam in the lowest third of the dress where apparetly the part with the train and the rest of the skirt were sewn together. I wonder why it could not be made in one piece. I am sure there is probably a reason but since I realized it I cannot stop looking at it. But somehow I am sure I will un-see it too once I get used to it ;)

Travel plans, anyone? (Upcoming Superdoll events)

As much as my health might have suffered from another Paris adventure... This card was handed out at the event and makes me think about my next trips.
Milan is undortunately completely booked, I tried to register a few weeks ago. LA sure sounds exciting but it's a long trip especially if there is no convention as such with a doll that everybody could take home...
London would be splendid for sure but it's always at a bad time for me work-wise. But who knows? It's still some time until then.

Paris Fashion Doll Festival 2014 Recap (features Sybarites, Barbie doll, Inamorata)

Dear all,

Another installment of the Paris Fashion Doll Festival (PFDF) has come and gone. As every year, I have traveled back with mixed emotions, I guess that is natual considering all collectors are just human after all and events always bring out the best and worst behaviours in them (and I am a person to whom a certain standart in treating other collectors is important). I swear that almost all events that I ever attended, I wanted to quit collecting or at least stop actively participating in the (online) communities.
But, I definitely want to focus on the postive aspects of the festival here and so we best start with the fabulous Sybarite items that I was able to acquire:

Ming is a Salon made gown in a limited edition of 12. It features a wonderful shape that is reminiscent of a Chinese porcelain vase from that period and thefabric has a wonderful blue color and feels very smooth and silky. I hope to be able to try this on a doll soon! The gown also arrived packed in a fab garment bag:

The welcome gift from the Friday event was a hose set packed in a cute little golden bag:

The doll for Friday is called Etiquette. I love her laser cut dress except for the fact that the material used for it sparkles but I think I will get used to it. Her face, hair and shoes (with little Eiffel tower heels!) are fabulous. I am not sure about her edition size. I know it is supposed to be smaller than the previous years but I am not sure how large or small exactly. I heard rumours that it is supposed to be 50 but as I said, I am not sure:

I wanted to try to buy the limited Sunday doll but could not go early enough due to Personal reasons. She features a cocoa colored Cocktail frock version of Etiquette’s dress with long orange gloves and shoes with a large buckle. Her hair is brunette and around shoulder length (in waves) and her make up is toned down except for bright red lips. She is very pretty but missing out on her hurt not as much as with Fidele Blond (altough in that case it was also the circumstances). Her edition size is 25. One of these days, I will get one of the Sunday dolls.

I think the Saturday barbie doll was a disappointment for many who are seriously interested as she is the exact same doll as handed out at another convention in Japan. If I was a Barbie collector, I would be bummed. Since I am not, this just means that it is significantly harder for me to sell the doll than last year which is also kind of a bummer but not as emotional:

There was another Sybarite gown available on Saturday but I missed out, It was a cocktail length dress with a butterfly print, coming with matching shoes and a hat in the shape of a butterfly.

For me personally, another highlight was getting to know in person my friend Emilia Nieminen who has been featured on this blog a few times with her repains and her own doll line, Inamorata. Emilia is absolutely the sweetest person you are ever going to meet and her love for dolls and the work she is doing is amazing. She displayed a limited edition doll (Chara Charmeuse, LE 5) as well as a OOAK (Predatrice) which she both made exclusively for the Festival on Sunday along with a range of items currently available on her online shop. The display which she had created for her dolls was incredible and atracted a lot of viewers- it features a Burlesque club with a stage and a dressing room. My photos are unfortunately bad cell phone pictures but I am sure that better pictures will soon show up and flickr.

Superdoll displayed a set of 2OAK dolls that looked absolutely amazing but photos were not allowed. The dolls features the Fugu sculpt in a very dark skin tone. They had Mohair wigs in an intricate hairstyle split to both sides with a hair garment inclduing a colorful head scarf. Furthermore they wore embeliished red jackets, a short golden corset ending just below the bust, golden panties and suspenders with colorful stockings. They had very long, bright red and sharpened finger nails. I loved them! One of my biggest hopes in doll collecting is that I can one day bring home such a special doll.

Sybarite Madame V and extreme edition Super Salon gown "Truffles"

Hi everybody,

I finally had some time to take a photo of this gorgeous dress that I was lucky enough to acquire just before Christmas- this is Truffles, an extreme edition of 6 dress that was sold through the Superdoll homepage and made in the Salon in London. Unfortunately it is a bid hard to catch in photos but one of the unique features of this gown are padded hips- very "Alexander Mc Queen" and they create a unique look!
