The Sybarites, the Superdoll Salon and the pursuit of perfection

Hi everyone,

I guess most readers are familiar with the Sybarites by Superdoll in London- for those who are not, in short terms, it is a fashion doll brand producing dolls 16" in size, made of resign, and generally accepted as one of the premier producers of high end fashion dolls. The lengths gone to produce their fashion dolls include hand assembly, hand painted facial details and fashions with hand finishing. The style of the Sybarites can be described as avant guarde in a myrade of different ways, and is best enjoyed by just absorbing them with own eyes. (Wow, that was really difficult, trying to put down so much in just two sentences and not even coming close to what I was actually trying to say).

Superdoll mainly sells their products through their homepage www.superfrock.com as well as trough their own Salon in London. The items that can be purchased in the Salon are generally hand made in London (whereas the items with bigger editions are produced in China), available in very limited editions and not available trough their homepage. They are the Haute Couture designs, so to say, compared to the larger edition items available trough their homepage being the Ready to Wear.

I visited the Salon for the first time in January 2013, the fulfilment of a long held dream. I was being taken wonderful care of by their representative, Lucrezia, who gave me as much time as I needed to try to stop being overwhelmed by the wonderful displays of dolls, fashions, one of a kind (OOAK) items, never produced prototypes and so on. The beautifully furnished sales room is exactly the shopping experience you are looking for when collecting high end dolls. What a difference to just sitting in fron of your computer all day clicking refresh and waiting for a doll to come up on a homepage to put her into your cart as quickly as possible! Also, visiting the Salon is definitely tapping into the fascinating history of the Sybarites, from the first produced dolls to the latest lines on display.
I developed a strong feeling of wanting to take home absolutely everything and just running with the items that are not available for sale, but I could control myself and had a hard time picking the few items that I could actually afford taking home right after the holidays.
Here is a picture of the first dress I chose, it is called "Smoke" and is from the 2012 Salon collection called "Ascot my *ss". It's a limited edition of 20. The model is my Sybarite Cadenza from the 2012 winter collection "Supervicious".
